Hula Coop
Episode 7
On November 28, 2005, How I Met Your Mother, a show created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas starring Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Allison Hannigan, and Neil Patrick Fuckhead, aired the tenth episode of its first season, The Pineapple Incident. It went on to become the most-viewed episode of the series, which spanned nine seasons and garnered one and a half awards and critical indifference. In the episode, the gang gets more than they bargained for when Barney, classic playboy, and Lily, classic woman, criticize Ted for overthinking too many aspects of his life, leading too much of a sheltered life at the tender age of 30/17. From there, Ted goes on a wacky adventure, taking shots like the crazy bastard he is, and waking up with a sprained ankle, a GIRL(??) in his bed, and a mysterious pineapple at his bedside. Hilarity ensues as Ted attempts to piece back together the events of his night, eventually commencing with TV dad and human slug Bob Saget narrating that this story has no ending, an incredibly underwhelming ending to, according to Vanity Fair, “the only television show to ever exist.” Wait, where am I? What’s this issue? Hula Coop? That title sucks, who writes this shit? Couldn’t be us. Our best work can be found in this HC Poetry issue entitled, oh gosh this is embarrassing, Hula Coop. Au Revoir!
